Last month, The Greater Louisville Automobile Dealers Association donated more than $14,000 to the Jefferson Community Technical CollegeAutomotive Scholarship Fund during the Association’s Annual Meeting held the University of Louisville’s Alumni Club. As a member of GLADA and supporters of this scholarship fund, Bachman Chevrolet is proud to partner with our local Technical College to find a solution to the shortage of auto techs in the community.

The funds were raised from GLADA’s unique night glow-all golf event held in September 2015 for both dealers and associate members. Held last fall at Oxmoor Country Club, the event pooled more than 70 participants in the event.

GLADA and JCTC’s partnership was formed to provide a solution to the shortage of auto techs in the community. The partnership originated from a co-op model from Toyota’s “t-ten” technician training program. Local dealers provide on-the-job-training for students to supplement their coursework in the JCTC Automotive Technician program. Over 16 weeks, students split their time between the classroom and the dealership to hone the skills they have learned.

We are proud to participate in not only providing jobs to our community but benefitting students and preparing them for the workforce. To date, we have welcomed five individuals into the program through Bachman Auto Group. We congratulate our current students and those who have graduated into the workforce. We are proud of you!
