dealership_service_mythsMaintaining a vehicle can be a daunting task. There is so much to maintain as well as the concern surrounding unreliable and dishonest repair. Sometimes you can’t help but wonder if you really needed that filter replaced or if the more expensive oil is actually better. Is the ole’ Joe Schmo Auto Parts store really the best place to go for service and repair?

With thoughts like these, it’s difficult to determine the best service route for your vehicle. Because of the complexity of the issues and the potential expense involved in repairing or maintaining a vehicle, we understand how consumers can become skeptical about service technicians, and even question their knowledge, which results in fewer trips to the service department and mounting performance issues for your vehicle.

At Bachman Chevrolet, we would like to put to rest some common myths about service repair and tell you exactly how our service department operates, so you can feel confident when you purchase a car from us, or choose to bring your car in for maintenance. Here are some common misconceptions consumers have about the service industry, followed by how Bachman Chevrolet addresses each issue.

MYTH #1: DEALERSHIPS CHARGE MORE

Many drivers have had great experiences with independent shops and dealerships alike; however, most believe that dealerships up-charge their services. While our prices may exceed that of your neighborhood Joe the Repairman, there are several different factors that are considered into the bottom line, such as the level of certification for technicians, whether or not the shop uses manufacturer-brand parts, and how much is charged for labor. We survey many of our competitors in an attempt to ensure fair pricing for each and every service we provide in our Service Department. From our hourly labor rate to the cost of our oil changes, we compare the costs of our services to assure the best possible value for your repair.

Because auto repair is more complex than ever, Bachman Chevrolet wants to make sure our service technicians are up-to-date, competent, and knowledgeable. Part of that process is requiring that our service team is ASE Certified (short for the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence), which is a benefit to our customers and to the technician. ASE Certification ensures our technicians have the knowledge to professionally service cars of any brand. It’s a great starting point, but we require our technicians to also achieve their GM Certification so they are even further trained in exactly how to service and repair all General Motors vehicles, including Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac. Your typical quick lube or independent shop may be ASE Certified, but Bachman Chevrolet’s service technicians have the extra, focused training that brings an immense amount of value to our customers.

The Bachman Chevrolet Service Department has been serving Louisville area customers for over 30 years, since 1985. Our Service Team has 13 GM Certified Master Technicians, two World Class Technicians, over 400 years of combined experience, and we consistently rank high in customer service. No other Louisville Chevrolet service department can boast that level of expertise!

Make an appointment to get to know any of our service technicians or our Service Manager and discuss any concerns you may have before beginning any service work. We will address your concerns and walk you through the process of repairing your vehicle.

MYTH #2: MECHANICS MAKE UNNECESSARY REPAIRS

We’ve all been there. You take the old trusty Chevy in for brake pads and end up with a flushed radiator and new spark plugs that you didn’t know you needed. Suddenly, your repair cost has escalated significantly and you are left scratching your head wondering if you needed any of those items to begin with.

Unfortunately, many of us have fallen victim to less than reliable maintenance technicians. That ends as you walk through the doors at Bachman Chevrolet.

We encourage you to get to know our staff as you bring your vehicle in, and ask as many questions about the repairs that will be performed. We will always communicate with you prior to following through with the repair. Bachman cares about our customers and holds true to the values of honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness. That’s why we employ certified technicians who are trained to detect mechanical issues and repair only what is necessary.

MYTH #3: APPOINTMENTS ARE NEVER AVAILABLE

We all have a busy schedule, and it’s never the right time for a car repair. Since a great number of our customers work during the week, we have extended hours Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to help accommodate you. Our Service Department is also open on Saturdays from 8:30-2:00. Call our Service Department to schedule your appointment at (502) 495-2860.

We also offer the convenient option to schedule your next service appointment online. Once you select a service time that is convenient for your schedule and submit that online, a member of our team will contact you within two business hours to confirm your appointment. It’s that easy.

Additionally, our Service Express Lane allows customers to whip into the Service Department for quick, routine maintenance. Oil changes, tire rotations, filters, bulbs – those are just a few of the quick items they perform. If you are in a pinch for time, take the express lane with Bachman!
