Camaro's 50th anniversary

The ultimate big daddy of muscle cars is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and the Chevrolet Camaro isn’t even close to being over the hill. Since 1967, Chevrolet has been cranking the Camaro out and placing keys in the hands of collectors everywhere.

Fun Fact: The Chevrolet Camaro was manufactured in order to compete with Ford’s Mustang. We aren’t the judges here, but we know where the winner stands. The Camaro was crafted after Chevy’s Nova, produced from the 1960’s-1980’s, after Ford released the Falcon. The first Camaro went on sale in September 1966 with a base price of $2466.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, Chevrolet is revving up the lines once more for the 50th Anniversary Edition of the Camaro. This edition celebrates everything this iconic nameplate has accomplished since 1967.

The exterior is coated in a smooth Nightfall Gray Metallic color and unique 20-inch 50th anniversary wheels with center caps. Additionally, the Special Edition dons 50th Anniversary stripe and badges. The grille is enhanced with satin chrome accents and orange brake calipers.

The interior trim is decked with black leather and suede with orange accent stitching. There is distinct 50th Anniversary treatment on the seatbacks, steering wheel and illuminated sill plates. Available Summer 2016 on 2017 2LT and 2SS Coupe or Convertible models.

The 50th Anniversary Edition of the Chevrolet Camaro is slated for availability in August 2016.
