Throughout the month of October, Bachman SubaruBachman ChevroletBachman Volkswagen, and the Bachman Collision Center will be collecting canned and non-perishable foods at each dealership location. Dare to Care food collection boxes will be located in the main entrances. With the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons approaching, we want to do our part to fill the food bank so that families will have the food they need during the holidays.

Dare to Care’s mission is to lead the community in feeding the hungry and conquer the cycle of need with the ultimate goal of a hunger-free Kentuckiana. According to the Dare to Care 2013 Annual report, Dare to Care distributed over 16 million pounds of food, including 5.5 million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables, to those in need in the 13 county Kentuckiana area in 2013.

Bachman Auto Group’s last food drive, with the participation of our employees and customers from our Bachman Subaru, Bachman Chevrolet and Bachman Volkswagen dealerships, resulted in the collection of over 3,000 food items weighing in at more than 2,700 pounds. We filled four Subaru Outbacks to deliver collected goods to the Dare to Care Food Bank. Several employees volunteered to help sort food at the Dare to Care warehouse.

Below are the top ten items Dare to Care is in need of at this time:

  1. Peanut butter
  2. Soup
  3. Canned fruit
  4. Beans
  5. Rice
  6. Tuna
  7. Cereal
  8. Fruit juice
  9. Pasta
  10. Canned vegetables

This year’s food drive will culminate with a “Drive Away Hunger” car show that will be hosted by Bachman Subaru. Join us on Sunday, October 19 from 1 – 5 pm for this event. There will be priority parking for Subaru cars, but all vehicles are welcome. Those who bring three canned goods will receive a free event t-shirt. Each additional canned food item will get your name in a drawing to win Subaru gear.
