Football season is here and fans across the country are gearing up to root for their favorite teams – and of course eat good food! Whether you’re headed to tailgate at your alma mater or joining the party outside a NFL stadium, make sure you have the right tools and tricks in your game plan to make tailgating a success.
If you already have the perfect Chevy for tailgating then you’re ready to setup the perfect tailgating spread. Here are our favorite tailgating hacks to make sure your game day is a success.
TAKE YOUR TAILGATE SETUP TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Fitted sheet tablecloth: Plenty of people bring folding tables to their tailgate, but windy fall days can cause problems when using traditional and disposable tablecloths. Luckily, a twin size fitted sheet can solve that problem! Twin size fitted sheets fit snugly around a folding table, preventing it from being blown off by the wind. It also makes for easy clean up. Simply wrap up the sheet and throw it in the washer when you get home – no need to even wipe down the table.
And the best part? It’s another opportunity to showoff your team spirit with color-coordinated sheets and tableware!
DIY paper towel holder: It is easy for paper towels to get misplaced in the excitement of tailgating, or worse they can also get blown away by the wind. By using a bungee cord you can easily secure your paper towels to your tailgating tent or the back of a chair to ensure they are always handy in case there’s a chili fumble. Thread the bungee cord through the paper towels and attach to your tent frame or chair back.
Tailgating toolbox: From silverware and grilling utensils to condiments and bottle openers, the amount of supplies needed for tailgating can be overwhelming and difficult to contain. But by utilizing a toolbox you can organize and store all of your tailgating needs. Multi-drawer or compartment toolboxes are perfect for containing and transporting everything from toothpicks and sunscreen to spatulas and lighter fluid.
STEP UP YOUR BURGER GAME
Hamburgers are the perfect game day food and with today being nation Hamburger Day it’d be a foul not to serve up hamburgers at your next tailgate. Make sure your hamburgers standout in the crowd with these hacks.
Tailgating slider: Don’t have a portable grill for tailgating? Don’t let that stop you from celebrating with hamburgers in hand. Hamburger sliders can be made ahead and assembled at the game. We recommend this recipe.
Bonus: their size makes them perfect for eating while playing Cornhole or cheering on your team with other fans!
Prepare your burgers ahead of time: If you prefer grilling your hamburgers while you tailgate, save time by shaping and packing your burgers the night before. Just make sure you wrap your burgers between sheets of wax paper to prevent them from sticking to each other and keep them covered with ice until you’re ready to fire up the grill.
Customized game day burgers: The options are endless when it comes to topping burgers. By creating topping trays it becomes easy to serve and enjoy burgers with all of your favorite toppings. Use a disposable, aluminum foil baking pan to hold all of your precut veggies and cheese, and a muffin tin is the perfect container for serving condiments, bacon, crumbled cheeses, and dips.
